Audrey Zolamae Nerby, age 84, of New Holstein, died on Friday October 26, 2012 at the Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. She was born September 20, 1928 in Milwaukee, daughter of the late Frank & Charlotte (Diedrich) Overson. Audrey married Myron Nerby in Holmen, WI in 1951. She dedicated her life to the education and betterment of children. She taught for over 40 years between the Mindoro, Holmen, Trempealeau and the consolidated Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau school districts. While teaching, Audrey shared her love of golf by coaching the high school golf team. Audrey was loved and respected by the students she taught and always enjoyed seeing their lives flourish following graduation. She was a member of the Holmen Lutheran Church where she had also been an active member of the WELCA. Audrey was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and had served as a Past President. She volunteered her time as a poll worker and helped organize and drive for Meals on Wheels. Audrey was a voracious reader who read numerous books and daily inspected the newspaper. She loved cats, the Green Bay Packers, and playing Bridge. Audrey was a fantastic cook, occupied her time cross-stitching, and looked forward to visits with friends and family. Survivors include her children: Christine Nerby-Saukel of Chilton, Carol Nerby and her significant other, Dave Ivens of Las Vegas, NV; and 2 grandchildren: Aegid & Karsten Saukel. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Myron; and a brother: Warren Overson. Funeral service will be at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton with the Rev. Wayne Huebner officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday October 30, 2012. The family would like to thank the entire staff of the Homestead for all of the loving care that was given to Audrey.
