Elizabeth (Peggy) Gebhart died at the Ingleside Nursing Home in Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin, on April 25, 2012, with her family at her bedside. She was the daughter of August and Magdalena Nisler (Heimann). Elizabeth attended and graduated from New Holstein High School. After raising three children she worked at the Salvatorian Center in New Holstein for 23 years in the Accounting Department.

Elizabeth married Bernard (Barney) Gebhart on February 23, 1943 and had three children: Leroy
(Gainesville, FL), Kate (Point Richmond, CA), and Thomas (Madison, WI). Bernard passed away on January 10, 1972. In addition to her children, Elizabeth had 5 brothers and 5 sisters (Anton, Theresa, Bertha, George, Leona, Veronica, Aloys, John, Joseph, and Leonilda) all who preceded her in death.

Elizabeth was a member of Good Shepherd Church in Chilton, WI and also a member of the Christian Mothers Society.

After retiring from the Salvatorian Center, Elizabeth enjoyed driving those who needed assistance to church, the grocery store, or to a doctor's office. She also took great pleasure in gardening and canning the many vegetables she grew in her garden. When it was still possible, Elizabeth and her family would drive around the countryside "stalking" wild asparagus in the spring. Picking and shelling hickory nuts in the fall was also something that she enjoyed (maybe not the shelling). While at Ingleside she received the name "Little Lady" for her diminutive size and gentle nature. She will be missed.

Funeral arrangements were made with the Wieting Family Funeral Home in Chilton. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with the Rev. Bob Kollath officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Chilton. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM when the service will be held. In lieu of flowers please make any donations in her name to the charity of your choice.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Ingleside Nursing Home for the great care that they provided to our mother in her final days. May all those who assisted in her care be blessed many times over. Gratitude and appreciation also go to Agrace Hospice Care for their assistance in our mother's final days. The family also wants to thank Sue Schneider, Mary Schneider, Paul Schneider, and Diane Benedict and her family for the many visits, phone calls, and cards that they showered our mother with over the years.
