Jerome H. Daun, age 86, of Chilton, died on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at his home in Chilton. He was born August 29, 1926 in Jericho, son of the late Henry & Anna (Karls) Daun. Jerry served his country in the United States Navy and following his discharge he married Eunice Boll on November 23, 1950 at St. Martin Catholic Church in Charlestown. Jerry worked a time for Happy Bass and later owned and operated Chilton Auto Repairs for 40 years until his retirement. Once Jerry retired, he volunteered his time driving bus for the New Hope Center, and worked at Hickory Hills fixing golf carts and golfing as much as possible. While golfing, Jerry was generally more concerned with the golf balls he was able to find along the way than he was about his final tally. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, the Chilton American Legion, and served a time as a city alderman. If he wasn't golfing, in his free time he would be picking hickory nuts, baking banana bread, or looking forward to visits from his grandchildren or great grandchildren. Survivors include his wife: Eunice; his children: Pam (Dennis) Havinga of Appleton, Jean (Pat) Nolan of Chilton, Steve Daun of Chilton, Doug (Shari) Daun of Chilton; 4 grandchildren: Brian Havinga, Michael (Kristin) Nolan, Jeremy (Aimee) Daun, Josh Daun and his fiancée Amy Jacobson; 3 great grandchildren: KayDance, Slaytt, Drayk; a sister: Josine Schreiner; and a brother: Lavern (Chibby) Daun. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters and other in-laws. Funeral service will be at 4:30 PM on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:30 PM until 4:30 PM on Sunday, October 7, 2012.
