Michael S. Laux, age 56, of Sherwood, died on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. He was born October 20, 1955 in Appleton, son of Douglas Robert & Betty Jean (Miller) Laux. Michael married Joyce Kuhn on May 28, 1977 in Nashville, TN. He had been a member of the Stockbridge Harbor Fishing Club and was a past member of the Sherwood area Jaycees. Michael was mechanically innovative with an intelligence that served him well. He was able to fix anything; whether electrical, mechanical, pneumatical, or any other problems arose, Michael was prepared to step in and relieve the problem immediately. He enjoyed his excellent guitar collection and took as much time as life allowed to play the music he liked. In his moments of free time, Michael took time to go sturgeon spearing, motorcycle rides, and restoring old cars, especially his '67 Chevelle. He also proudly served the youth of his community by teaching a BB Gun Safety Class; he beamed with joy when some of his students placed first and third in a state shooting competition. Michael will be remembered as a warm and welcoming person who loved his friends and family. He went out of his way to make those around him feel like they were friends by sharing stories and jokes. Survivors include his wife: Joyce; his children: Melissa Laux of Kimberly and her special friend, Dan, Douglas Laux, II of Brillion, and his special friend: Golda; his parents: Douglas Robert & Betty Jean Laux; his mother-in-law: Romilda Kuhn; sisters and brother: Connie (Mark) Kuschel, Lauri (Mike) Marshall, Kevin Laux, Colleen (Bill) Richey; a brother-in-law: Kenneth Kuhn; and a sister-in-law: Delphine (Gerry) Farvour. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law: William Kuhn; grandparents: Chester & Esther Laux, Art & Hazel Miller; and a sister-in-law: Vickie Kuhn. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, June 4, 2012 at Christ the King Lutheran Church (N7510 Hwy 55) in Sherwood with the Rev. Tom McFarland officiating. Burial will follow in the High Cliff Cemetery in Sherwood. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday, June 3, 2012, and on Monday at the church from 9:30 am until 10:30 am. Memorials are appreciated in the name of Michael S. Laux.
