Wim van der Graaf, age 53, of Kiel, died following a year long battle with cancer on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls. He was born March 16, 1959 in Cook County, IL, son of Wim van der Graaf, and the late Jane (Yeager) van der Graaf. Before marriage, Wim served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He married Janet Pitz on November 20, 1993. Most of his life, Wim had been self employed, and most recently had been working for Worthington Cylinders in Chilton. He was an LTC Grad with a degree in Welding. He enjoyed watching the Packers, being able to fix things around the house, spending time with his family, and fishing. Survivors include his wife: Janet; his father and step-mother: Wim & Marlene van der Graaf; his children: Erika (Mike) Losten of Maryland, Wim, Ann, & Tye van der Graaf, of Kiel; 2 grandchildren: Payton & Paige Losten; his sister: Judy (Conrad) Gilsdorf; mother-in-law: Frances Pitz; grandmother-in-law: Rita Binversie; and in-laws: Kathy (Mark) Lutzke, Barb (Mike) Jirikowic, Sandy (Mike) Mueller, Bill (Pam) Pitz, Dave (Julie) Pitz, and Gary Pitz. Wim is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father: Jane & William Binet, and his father-in-law: Michael Pitz. Funeral service will be at 6:00 PM on Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (1212 Teckla Pl.) in Kiel with the Rev. Jim Jensen officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 PM until 5:30 PM on Friday, April 13, 2012. The family would like to thank the Doctors and Staff of the Vince Lombardi Cancer Center, as well as the entire staff from the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for all of the loving care and guidance that was provided to Wim and his family. They would also like to thank the church family of Faith Alliance for all of the love, support and prayers.
