Jerome B. "Jerry" Kopack age 60, of Hilbert, formerly of Encinitas, CA., died on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton with his wife by his side. He was born in Chicago, IL on October 14, 1947 to the late Bernard and Lillian (Olson) Kopack. On August 6, 1983 he married the former Joann Welter in San Diego, CA. Jerry worked for US Customs, The Dept. of Justice, and retired from Homeland Security in 2004. He was a member of St. Mary's Parish in Hilbert, the Knights of Columbus, Chicago & Northwestern Historical Society, and All Gauge Toy Train Assn. of San Diego. His hobbies were model trains, ham radios, computers, gardening & growing roses. Jerry loved to travel and was very knowledgeable about all the places he had traveled. He is survived by Joann, his wife of 24 years, and his cat Homer. He is further survived by his cousin, Glorya and John Anderson of Tucson, AZ.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Janice & (Don) Kessler, Pat & (Dan) Voelker, Kay & (Gary) Huss, Mary & (Jerry) Weiland, Tim & (Charlene) Welter and Terry "Emmet" & (Sandy) Welter and many nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his mother and father-in-law Tim & Helen Welter. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 29, 2007 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hilbert with Rev. Philip Dihn-Van-Thiep officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Kaukauna. Friends may call at Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4 PM to 7 PM on Sunday, October 28, 2007 and on Monday at the church from 10 AM to 11 AM when services will be held. Joann wishes to thank all the doctors and nurses on 2 South ICU at St. E's. A memorial fund has been established in the name of Jerry for St. Mary's Church in Hilbert.
